Flagg Incorporated was founded in 1971 by the former Director of Marketing for Formica, Ted Flagg. It was his desire to start a distributorship that was dedicated to serving the Cabinet-Making Industry with the numerous specialty items in the market and to introduce Wilsonart Laminate to the area.
Gary Leonard, then a salesperson for Black & Decker, thru a friendship with Flagg Inc, purchased the company in 1973. Gary’s entrepreneurial drive and fun personality coupled with his vision of friendly customer service, quickly grew the company into his vision. One of his favorite sayings was that he wanted to make the laminate industry fun. He believed that people do business with people they like and he made that paramount in the early years of Flagg Inc.’s long success story.
Although Gary passed in 2012, the family business, now in its third generation, holds fast the company culture that he fostered in the multiple branches of Flagg Inc. throughout the Tri-state.
